Swapping the 30 minute morning commute for the 30 second commute to the home office isn’t an easy switch. The quarantine has completely changed the make-up of our days, and if you thrive on a routine, that can be especially difficult. Pax Momentum’s co-founder, Matthew Hanson, has put together the 5 things he does everyday to make sure he’s getting the most out of social distancing. If you do it right, you could become even more productive and leave social distancing with a newfound discipline.
1. CREATE A LIST. “I write down just 3 things I need to accomplish. It seems small, but I am in start up mode, so each task generally requires a great deal of brain power, research, consulting and even writing. After a week, it is amazing to see how much I have accomplished.”
2. KNOW WHEN TO POWER DOWN. “I stop work at 5. I like to start early, so I have a reasonable time when I try to shift from work to family and recreation.”
3. STAY GROUNDED. “I start each day focusing on spirituality. I dedicate time to pray, meditate and read holy texts. The time is invaluable as it helps me to focus on the most essential in my world.”
4. GET OUTSIDE. “I walk 2 miles per day. This isn’t the most intense exercise regime I have followed, but performed everyday, the impact has been noticeable. My mood stays positive and productivity sustains itself.”
5. CHECK IN WITH LOVED ONES. “Look for one chance to lift up someone else each day. This could be a phone call, and email, or some small act of service provided to someone else in the home. There’s an Old Proverb: ‘If you want to be happy for an hour, go fishing. If you want to be happy for a day, take a nap. If you want to be happy for a lifetime, serve others.'”
